Diana Rubino signs with Mythica Publishing

U.S. author Diana Rubino is the latest in a long line of successful authors to sign her next book to Mythica Publishing. 'A Necessary End' will be released in both paperback and e-book editions.

About 'A Necessary End'

Shakespearian actor John Wilkes Booth is famous, charming, and so sexy, brokenhearted women have attempted suicide over him. But the image he shows his adoring public is nothing like the real Booth. A tragic, troubled man, he leads a secret life, far from the theater’s applause and lights. By day, he’s a Confederate spy and courier, taking dangerous missions so that his beloved South can fight the North in the war that has torn the nation in two. An even darker secret plagues him–he believes he’s the reincarnation of Brutus, the man who slew the tyrant Caesar, and Booth’s destiny in this life is to murder the tyrant who’s ravaged the South—Abraham Lincoln. In obeying the spirit of Brutus, Booth devises a plot to assassinate the tyrant.

But, as many tragic heroes have surrendered their hearts to a beautiful woman, Booth falls in love with Alice Grey, an actress from the North who’s been hired to spy on Booth and thwart his murderous plans. Both he and Alice become torn between their loyalties to their countries and their growing love for each other. As Booth struggles to ward off Brutus’s controlling spirit, he realizes he can’t escape his fate. He’s destined to live and die the life that’s given him.

Will Alice’s love for Booth win out over her duty to protect the President from assassination? A surprise twist at the end seals Booth’s fate, which we know from the history books, but did it really end that way? The open question remains: Did Booth perish in the burning barn that night, or did he escape and return to his beloved?

THE MEMOIRS OF BEAR: Nueces Means Nuts is the story of Bear Williams; half breed Apache Private Eye whose grandfather was a tribal holy man. Despite years of training by his grandfather, Bear's mystic abilities are nominal and he solves most of his cases the old fashioned way, by hard work and, in Bear’s case, good friends and dumb luck. The case's genesis, a deadly boring missing persons case, quickly turns into a cruel and grisly murder and a scandal of gigantic proportions. As the scandal is revealed it unwaveringly involves the cream of Texas society, a crazed preacher, an oil theft, homicide and rudeness, the last of which is regarded by some as a Capital Offense in Texas. Despite two attempts on his life, Bear and his team of allies plod steadily forward and start to stack fact on top of fact until a preponderance of evidence starts to point to a surprising suspect. Even more surprising is how abruptly justice is meted out and by whom. The well defined and likeable characters in this tale will draw the reader into the complex web of crime and scandal that surrounds the likeable Bear and his friends as they strike fear into the hearts of the perpetrators of the crime…eventually!

Here at Mythica Publishing we're delighted to be able to publish the first advance review of Brian L Porter's  Kiss of Life. Like the book itself, it's a great read!

Review - Kiss Of Life

Brian L. Porter just keeps getting better.  In this sequel to Dracula Doesn't Live Here Anymore, the reader goes back into the rich landscape penned in the first novella.  From the beginning you have a feeling of impending danger and suspense.  He handled the interaction between the reunited characters with great skill and left me guessing until the end.  Expect his usual plot twists that blindside you even if you’re looking for them.  A spectacular read.

~ Kristina Dalton, author of the Garrett series : Taken, Unleashed, Untold, Until You, and Vampire’s Lover, The King’s Right and The Ring

The Voice Of Anton Bouchard - (By Kristina Dalton)

Mr. Porter carries through on the promise of his earlier works, delivering plot twists and elements of amazing imagination in a collection of stories that will entertain, provoke thought and satisfy. I recommend this as a refreshing read for both sci-fi fans and people like me who have not read much in that genre. The Voice Of Anton Bouchard - (By Martha A. Cheves)

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Ready to Enter the Twilight Zone, June 7, 2009

By     Martha A. Cheves (Charlotte, NC) - See all my reviews (Link)

Short story "Red Sky in the Morning"... 'Prior to surfacing completely, the submarine's commander, Captain Simon Merrick had ordered the periscope raised, and he knew as soon as he put his eye to the scope that something wasn't right. Although the submarine's chronometer showed the time as eleven o'clock in the morning it appeared quite dark on the surface. There appeared to be an incredible red tinge to the outside world. While he tried to make some sense of what he saw his communications officer, Mike Regan had been trying without success, to make contact with the base at Rosyth.'

What Merrick and his crew didn't know as their submarine surfaced from the deep waters was that they were about to "Enter the Twilight Zone."

Enter the Twilight Zone yourself as you read "The Voice of Anton Bouchard" which will have you wondering why a serial killer suddenly stopped killing. Read "Breathing to Death" to see how and why women with medical problems are being killed. "The Sound of Silence" will have you traveling with a young lady, who after a wreck, is carried off to what could be nothing less than the castle of Dracula. These stories and many more that make up this book will carry you into the "Zone".
